Functional medicine is specialized care for patients who haven't found answers through traditional appointments. Where a conventional visit stops at "your labs look fine," we keep looking — with a full 1-hour intake, targeted labs, and a protocol built around your specific picture, not a template.
We're not here to criticize the system. Conventional medicine saves lives every single day, and we're grateful for it. But it runs under real time constraints that simply don't leave room for the kind of patient investigation that gets to the bottom of things. That's the space Pristine was built to fill: more time, more depth, and more of your story genuinely heard.
Why Carley founded Pristine.
Carley McLaughlin, APRN-CNP founded Pristine Health after years of watching good people cycle through the conventional system — procedure after procedure, referral after referral, prescription after prescription — for concerns that, with enough upstream attention earlier on, might never have reached that point. Her founding question was a simple, stubborn one: what if patients were given the time, the depth, and the attention that a rushed appointment can never afford? She built Pristine to be the practice she always wished her own patients had access to — thorough, compassionate, and relentlessly curious about why.
That philosophy runs through every service line we offer. Functional medicine is simply where it lives most fully.
Sommer Hood, APRN-CNP — Head of Functional Medicine at Pristine Health.
Functional medicine consultations at Pristine are led by Sommer Hood, APRN-CNP, alongside our growing team of functional medicine providers — so your care stays consistent and never gets spread thin across a rotation. When you schedule a functional medicine intake, you'll be matched with a provider who has time to get to know you over time. Our team brings a systems-based clinical lens to every patient: looking at how your hormones, gut health, metabolic function, and lifestyle all influence one another, and building protocols that address the connections between them — not just the individual data points on a page.
Functional medicine consultations are available at our 1709 W. 33rd St., Edmond location.
